Marco Mengoni is the undisputed winner of this edition of Sanremo 2023. When she takes the stage he manages to set on fire the Ariston both for his stage presence and for his passage highly appreciated. We are talking about "Two lives", but in addition to the lyrics of this song, you know what it wants to communicate Mengoni with the words he communicates in this song?

The meaning of the song Due Vite by Mengoni

The piece is about the complicated and intertwined life a two, narrated through a succession of episodes of daily life of pair. "Two lives" is an invitation to live intensely every moment, including those of apparent monotony, as if it were the last.

It's a story that it has two reading plans: one dreamlike and full of symbols related to the unconscious, which mixes with autobiographical scenes and realistic. An invitation to to face life with honesty, without remorse and without thinking about what one should or could be, to accept even mistakes as moments of growth.

Here's what he has declared Mengoni regarding the meaning of his passage:

“The song “Two Lives” is about a beautiful and infinite report who gives himself a lot of slaps and beatings because it's the one between life real and the one we live in dreams.

It is scientifically proven that the notte light up our part more emotional and monsters come out and fears hidden.

Di dayinstead, our mind which is one driving feel perfect manages to put aside fears and lacerations so as not to make us suffer.

In the night I find the whole truth and lately I've been paying much attention to it. Then mine therapist she is very good and we try to analyze dreams in every detail"

The importance of mental health for Mengoni: present in the song?

In reality, however, it is not yet clear whether we are talking about one relationship between two distinct people or of the one with themselves. We recall that the artist has repeatedly addressed the theme of Mental health, in an interview, the singer confided about a disorder that afflicts him: the dysmorphism. She confessed that both he and some members of his family suffered from it, he explained (mother, aunt and perhaps grandmother).

Therefore, it is not excluded that the two souls are, in reality, i two sides of the same person.

The lyrics of the song of Two Lives by Mengoni

We are the only ones awake in the whole universe
And I still don't know your desert well
Maybe it's in a place in my heart where the sun is always off
Where sometimes I lose you, but if I want I'll catch you
We are stuck in a time like this, which lifts the streets
With the sky one step away from here, we are the monsters and the fairies
I should phone you, tell you the things I hear
But I've run out of excuses and I have no more defenses

We are a book on the floor in an empty house that looks like our own
Coffee with lemon against hangover, you look like a blurred photo
And we screwed up one more night out
And thank goodness

If this is the last song and then the moon will explode
I'll be there to tell you you're wrong, you're wrong and you know it
There's no music here
And you don't sleep
And where will you be? Where do you go when life then exaggerates
All the runs, slaps, mistakes you make
When something upsets you
I know that you don't sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, never sleep
What turns do two lives

We are the only ones awake in the whole universe
Shouting a little rage on a rooftop
That no one feels this way
That no one watches movies anymore
The flowers in your room
My chain mail

We are a book on the floor in an empty house that looks like our own
Lost among people, how many words without ever an answer
And we screwed up one more night out
And thank goodness

Why does Mengoni's song have Neapolitan origins?

Behind every great song there is a great author, as demonstrated by the case of "Two lives" by Marco Mengoni, which triumphed at Sanremo 2023. The merit of the song must be attributed mainly to the Neapolitan David Petrella, who collaborated with Davide Simonetta and Mengoni himself. Petrella, also known under the pseudonym Tropico, was also one of the authors of the second-placed song, or "Cenere" by Lazza.

But Davide Petrella does not just compose for others: he is also a lead singer, whose stage name is Tropico, and whose most famous passage is entitled “There is no love in Naples”. In his latest album you can find numerous prestigious duets, including those with Calcutta, Cesare Cremonini, Elisa and Franco 126.
