Sanremo 2024 has just started and his songs are already causing quite a stir. This time it's the lyrics of Ghali, for the first time in the race, to raise a fuss: the Milanese Jewish community he would like her to be excluded and accuses her angrily. But why? What happen?

La canzone di Ghali sotto accusa, perché?

Milano diventa l’epicentro di una bufera mediatica quando Ghali, al secolo Ghali Amdouni, porta sul palco dell’Ariston “My home“, a composition that touches sensitive chords. Walker Meghnagi, authoritative voice of Milanese Jewish community, labels the performance as a vehicle of anti-Israel propaganda, unacceptable in a context that should celebrate unity.

What are the verses under accusation?

The verses incriminated by Meghnagi and co. they vibrate with a message that, according to them, goes beyond the limit of artistic expression to result in a narrative considered dangerous.

“Always the same story, I don't want to raise dust / But how can you say that everything is normal here / Drawing borders with imaginary lines, bombing a hospital / For a piece of land or bread, peace is always absent”.

Words that, in their simplicity, shake and provoke, bringing to light a reality made of conflicts and suffering.

La risposta di Ghali

Ghali does not remain silent in the face of accusations. Through a post on Instagram, the trapper defends himself and clarifies: his presence in Sanremo was not born from the ambition of resolve international crises but to invite to reflection. “Se la mia musica illumina ciò che molti preferiscono ignorare, allora è un successo”. Ghali ribadisce l’importanza di Don't stay neutral when silence can be interpreted as consent, underlining the profoundly humanitarian and non-political essence of his message.
