A hymn to the theater and a tribute to Shakespeare. “Stage servant” at the Bellini Theater in Naples, directed and performed by Franco Branciaroli

From the 19 to 24 2013 November al Bellini Theater of Naples the show will be represented Scene servant, Directed by Franco Branciaroli.

The drama is taken from the homonymous text by Ronald Harwood, which also covered the film version of Peter Yates in the 1983, which became a cult film. Franco Branciaroli, with the charisma that distinguishes him, he takes care of the direction and gives voice and body to the protagonist.

Scene servant represents a real one hymn to the theater, an art capable of resisting everything, even the darkest moments in history, as in the London of 1940, devastated by the Nazi bombings, but where pubs and restaurants still survive, and where the companies still stage the dramas, especially those of Shakespeare, considered a prophet by the people who intends to continue to live despite war and suffering.

Franco Branciaroli in the show Servant of scene at the Bellini Theater

Sir is an old man-in-law, now in decline, once a Shakespearean actor acclaimed by the public and the crowds, but who now owes his survival to the care and attention of his humble servant of the scene, Norman. Struck by an illness, but forced to act equally, Sir is confused on the stage jokes and characters of Shakespeare plays and can barely reach the end of the show.

The old actor decides to give Norman his autobiography, where he thanks every actor of the company, all but his humble and devoted servant of the scene, who suddenly finds himself alone, poor and without work.

Norman thus embodies the symbol of the theater that never dies, of that theater that resists even in difficult times, when no one can see a way out, because it has no masters or rewards, because the inexhaustible strength that allows its existence is its gratuitousness.
