The historic Aragonese Parade in Naples will be a tribute to the symbol of the city: the Bronze Horse Head!

Saturday November 19 2016 the "Horse head”In bronze, made by the great Donatello and exposed to National Archaeological Museum of Naples, will be remembered with the Aragonese historical parade which will start from the museum, continue via Toledo to Largo di Palazzo (now Piazza del Plebiscito) and will return to the MANN.

The event was organized by the museum director Paolo Giulierini and the Compagnia dell'Aquila Bianca, and is sponsored by the Municipality of Naples and the Department of Culture and Tourism.

To open the parade there will be the sandieratori, the drummers, the artists of the "Corteo Marino Marzano" of Sessa Aurunca, the representatives of the historical dance group "Il Contrapasso", the "Municipal Historical Parade" of Santa Maria Vico and the figures who will wear the clothes created by Francesca Flaminio. For the equestrian parade i will participate knights in Aragonese armor belonging to "the Knights of the Real Cavallerizza" of Naples, "the Knights of the Challenge of Barletta", the knights of the "Giostra dei Sedili" and the knights of the "Royal City".

At the end of the parade there will be a ceremony to commemorate the bronze Horse Head considered the "Symbol of Naples”And to remember the history of our land. This sculpture, in fact, was donated in 1471 by Lorenzo the Magnificent to the city of Naples as a distinctive symbol. On the death of the king the work of art was donated to the Neapolitan count Maddaloni Diomede Carafa, a great exponent of the Aragonese court, only in 1809 the princes of Colubrano donated the bronze sculpture to MANN.
