Underpass Claudio in Naples, work begins after the collapse due to bad weather

Due to the recent bad weather, Naples has suffered numerous disruptions , including the partial collapse of the false ceiling of the Claudio Underpass . The Road Service visited the site to inspect and assess the damage.

Specifically, technicians identified a structural issue that led to the collapse of some suspended ceiling panels. The cause appears to be leaks caused by the severe weather of the past few days. Consequently, the underpass had to be closed to traffic , creating significant disruption. This is an incredible situation, given that the tunnel had recently reopened to traffic after six months of barriers.

The work will likely last five days. Once completed, the Claudio Tunnel will be reopened to traffic. We just have to wait for further updates.

Other works planned

In Via Cristoforo Colombo , eastbound carriageway exiting Naples, work is underway to replace an underground cable electrode connecting the “Napoli Centro” primary cabin with the Doganella primary cabin:

• from 23 January to 27 January 2023 taken from the church of Portosalvo;
• from 30 January to 2 February 2023 Immacolatella height section;
• from 6 February to 17 February 2023 stretch up to the height of the Agip petrol station.

Galleria Vittoria closed at night for fan maintenance:

• From 23 pm on 30 January and until 30 am on 05 January 00 the transit lanes from Via Acton to Via Domenico Morelli will be closed to traffic.

Narrowing of the Scampia perimeter road for lighting system maintenance:

• From 31 January to 4 February 2023 from 07:00 to 16:00 partial closure of the affected sections
