The Suburban Baths reopen in Pompeii and it will be possible to visit the erotic frescoes that have been closed for some time.

After many years of closure, it will be possible to admire the forbidden frescoes of the Suburban Baths of archaeological excavations of Pompeii.

It is a large and modern complex of the Julio-Claudian age, downstream from the city walls, at the entrance to Porta Marina. It is considered among the more erotic and evocative places of the ancient Roman city, since the six frescoes found depict the services offered by the prostitutes of the time to the wealthy traders who went to Pompeii to conclude important commercial affairs.

This is why the area is forbidden to minors even if it is an interesting place that offers an insight into the customs and sexual sphere of the ancient Romans. According to some interpretations, the erotic pictures could recall the performances that took place on the upper floor of the building, without incurring criminal penalties.

The Baths have also been reopened to make tribute to November, the month of eros.

An unusual visit that will show us a new historical aspect of the fascinating archaeological site.
