The Dalì Universe exhibition dedicated to the famous Spanish artist, father of surrealism, arrives in Sorrento. Among art objects, illustrations and urban sculptures
From Venice to Florence, and then get incredibly to Sorrento, Where from the 14 June to the 19 September 2013 you can visit a very original exhibition dedicated to Salvador Dalì, the famous Spanish artist and father of surrealism.
The Dali Universe will be exhibited in the halls of Villa Fiorentino, on Corso Italia, where visitors can admire more than 100 works, including little-known art objects.
Bronze sculptures (like the famous ones Profile of Time andSpace Elephant), surrealist furniture and furnishings, "glass paste" sculptures, made in collaboration with Daum Cristallerie French, objects in gold, are the artistic “pieces” that will allow visitors to get to know new aspects of Dalì, a part of his artistic production that is not purely pictorial and which confirms the extraordinary creativity of a multifaceted artist.
He was, in fact, a painter but also a draftsman, filmmaker, designer and illustrator: the Master dedicated himself to the surrealist reinterpretation of many literary texts, both contemporary and classic. These precious illustrations and autographed graphics will be exhibited within the exhibition.
For the occasion, some of Dalì's works will leave the museum context and will spread in the streets and squares of Sorrento, making the suggestive places of the splendid town located at the end of the Gulf of Naples artistic. In particular, three monumental statues of the artist will be positioned in three squares so as to create an ideal path that involves the whole city. In Piazza Andrea Veniero you can admire the statue of the profile of time, with the famous clock loose on a branch that recalls the picture The persistence of memory. In Piazza Angelina Lauro instead there will be a bronze of Terpsichore more than three and a half meters high, while the sculpture of the Snail and the angel.
The Dali Universe turns out to be an exhibition not to be missed, one of the few dedicated to one of the protagonists of the artistic scene of the last century and which will offer us the opportunity to discover the increasingly interesting and fascinating aspects of Salvador Dalì's creativity.
