Toni Servillo brings the extraordinary process of character creation to the Bellini Theater with the show "Elvira"
24 from January to February 12 2017, Bellini Theater of Naples, the great Toni Servillo will stage his "Elvira", an original theatrical performance taken from "(Elvire Jouvet 40)" by Brigitte Jacques, da Molière and the classic comedy di Louis Jouvet.
The show, directed and performed by Toni Servillo with Petra Valentini, Francesco Marino and Davide Cirri, offers the public the extraordinary opportunity to attend the process of creating a theatrical character. The spectators will, in fact, be dragged “Inside a closed theater, almost spying between the stalls and proscenium, with a teacher and a pupil in front of a fire curtain that will never rise, a particular moment of a real phenomenology of character creation”.
The rehearsals of a monologue will be held on stage, that of di Donna Elvira in the fourth act of the Don Giovanni of Molière. We therefore attend the transformation of the actor into a character who is in unknown territory where the actor must venture to find out. The show is also an opportunity to analyze the Louis Jouvet's reflections on the differences between comédien and acteur: “The comédien is, so to speak, the agent of the character, while the acteur delegates himself personally. The comédien exists thanks to the effort, to the inner discipline, to a rule of life of his thoughts, of his body. His work is based on a particular modesty, an annihilation that the acteur does not need ”.
Toni Servillo intends to make the public understand, especially to young people, the nobility of the profession of acting, which risks being debased in these confused times.
