The Festival of Purpetta is back in San Valentino Torio (Salerno)

One of the most important festivals of Salerno is ready to return to the scene after a long two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. We are talking about “The Festival of “Purpetta e' Pastenaca” which was held every year San Valentino Torio.

For 2023 the celebration reaches an important milestone, in fact, this edition is the one that will mark his 40 years. The party, organized by the Catholic Action of the parish of San Giacomo Maggiore Apostolo of San Valentino Torio (SA), will be held during the days of the patron saint of lovers, i.e. Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 February 2023.

All profits collected during the Festival will come devolved to the population of Veyula, a small village in Tanzania.

The origins of Purpetta is pastenac

The protagonist of the Festival is the famous, as well as particular, meatball with carrots, a delicacy that attracts everyone's attention, young and old. The famous recipe for this dish dates back to ancient times, in fact it was donated by the Mrs. Ida Rosa Buono to Catholic Action precisely because of it joint purpose event.

One is also available variant for celiacs available for purchase at the Festival.
