The vaccine developed by Pfizer and Biontech against Covid-19 is 90% effective according to the first results of the experiment!

They finally arrive good news from the Covid-19 vaccine front thanks to the announcement of the pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Biontech who declared the vaccine to be 90% effective which they jointly developed.

It is a pharmaceutical giant of the USA and a German biotechnology group which, in collaboration, have begun the development and testing of a vaccine against Coronavirus which, in fact, has an efficacy even higher than 90%, but the results of which must have further confirmation, as is normal in these cases .

Great results, but the experimentation must be completed

So, let's take all this information with the right caution because the experimentation is to be completed and the scientific community will have to examine the results. Furthermore, the duration of the immune defense triggered by the vaccine, although companies speculate that it could even last a year or more.

In any case, the two companies say they are very satisfied and do not hide the enthusiasm for the results obtained. The vaccine was tested on 94 volunteers who, during the clinical study, developed at least one symptom.

Distribution in the world

The two companies do not think much about the amount of vaccines that will be distributed already by the end of 2020, but 50 million doses could already arrive to immunize 25 million people. Instead, in 2021 it around 1,3 billion could arrive.

They also signed a contract with the US government to supply 100 million doses.

The scientific calendar: the study of vaccines in the world

As mentioned, of course studies and experiments do not stop because Pfizer has enlisted approx 44000 volunteers around the world and will continue her research until she is able to examine 164 infected patients. The company, according to the first results, declares that the vaccine developed immunity at 28 days from the first dose and one at 7 from the second. The observation period on patients will last until the third week of November and then the emergency request for the use of the vaccine should start.

In parallel, three other vaccines are being studied in an advanced stage of experimentation and also by a team from Naples, led by professor Ascierto, there is news on the upcoming start of the experimentation phase of a vaccine Neapolitan which has been studied since the first lockdown.
