An exclusive interactive exhibition to travel to the North Pole in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples!

From the 25 28 May 2017 will be set up exhibition “Arctic. Interactive trip to the North Pole " a Piazza Plebiscito a Napoli, as part of the event Remote Future.

The North Pole, with its pristine nature, its lonely landscapes and that sense of spiritual freedom is a fascinating place and those who have been lucky enough to visit it have defined the experience as unforgettable.

Thanks to this exhibition, organized by the CNR, everyone will have the opportunity to take an excursion in the Arctic, even if only virtually. Its peculiarities will be discovered and phenomena will be observed through physical and multimedia installations, interactive experiments, scientific equipment, scale reconstructions, documents, objects and exciting images.

Timeline

The exhibition is divided into four areas:

  • The Arctic in the global system that illustrates the geographical features of the Arctic, its populations and the history of the Arctic explorations
  • The research: observe and understand the Arctic system with the main research activities that Italy conducts in the Arctic and in particular in Ny Ålesund, in the Svalbard Islands, where the CNR manages the research station "Dirigibile Italia"
  • Vulnerability and resilience, which deals with issues related to the Arctic ecosystem such as chemical pollution, and the risks associated with permafrost degradation
  • The Governance of the Arctic that describes the organizational structure of international organizations that manages scientific and political planning in the Arctic.

In addition, the Arctic is the region of the planet where the problems related to climate change are more quickly manifested and this is considered a great natural laboratory in which to analyze and study these processes, which have negative consequences on the entire planet.
