After the sinking of a part of asphalt in via Manzoni, it was decided to activate the alternate direction for vehicles.
On the day of March 17, 2021 it was opened a chasm in via Manzoni in Naples due to poor road maintenance. The sinking occurred as a consequence of the splitting of a water pipe which created an underlying void in which the asphalt was "swallowed". The affected section is that shortly after the Fatebenefratelli hospital, towards Posilippo.
Similar damage had already occurred in via Aniello Falcone a few days earlier, but in that case a bus got stuck for a few hours, without causing any injuries. Also on this occasion there was no harm to people, but only to the street.
The viability in via Manzoni: the alternate direction
There was a temporary block of traffic which caused traffic, but currently traffic has been restored since theemergency surgery lasted about a couple of hours.
At the moment, however, the direction of travel is alternated since the part of asphalt concerned is concentrated in the internal carriageway.
Surely the issue of road maintenance in Naples is a very delicate subject and the future new council will have to deal with it in depth, also considering the problem of closure of the Vittoria Gallery.
