The famous work by Chekhov on stage at the Bellini Theater with Sergio Rubini and Michele Placido, directed by Marco Bellocchio
From January 14 19 2014 to will be staged at Bellini Theater of Naples one of the most undisputed masterpieces of the theater of Anton Chekhov, Uncle Vanjia (read the review of the show). To interpret the two protagonists of the drama two very large local actors, Michele Placido, in the role of Professor Serebriakoff e Sergio Rubini in the role of Uncle Vanjia. The direction is from Marco Bellocchio.
Uncle Vanjia it is the second most important work of Chekhov, afterwards The Seagull, and was written in the 1896. All its aspects, from the development of the plot to the linguistic style, from the characterization of the characters to the description of each situation, reveal the fundamental features of the cechovian poetics: the meticulous reconstruction of suspended and rarefied atmospheres, boring and monotonous conversations, characters who carry on an indifferent and emotionless life, the constant feeling that something catastrophic is about to happen. A superficial banality of events and actions that at the same time allows very deep truths to emerge, hidden between the lines, or in the so-called “Chekhovian subtext”.
The story revolves around the decision taken by the Professor Serebryakov to sell the estate in the countryside he inherited, following his marriage to Helena, after the death of his first wife, Uncle Vanja's sister. This position triggers in Uncle Vanjia all his temper, to the point of attempting to kill the professor with gunshots that will not hit. Eventually Serebryakov and Helena will return to the city, letting Uncle Vanya continue to manage his estate.
