In Sorrento the walkway on the ancient walls reopens

The Municipality of the city of Sorrento announced to the citizens a wonderful news, namely the reopening to the public of the ancient walkway on the ancient viceregal walls of the city.

Because of the Saracen raids that during the sixteenth century mainly interested southern Italy, the city of Sorrento provided to ensure a solid defense and this was made possible thanks to the construction of an imposing circle of walls.

These same walls were later renovated and made completely insurmountable and only in the Bourbon period was the Porta di Parsano erected along the southern side, which is currently the only one still open to visitors and which in ancient times allowed access to the hilly area.

The reopening of the walkway on the walls of Sorrento will allow you to admire and learn about a piece of history of this city.
