The charm of the authentic flavor lives on in the 12th edition of the Scazzatiello Castelese. This culinary feast, curated by the Pro Loco of Castel San Lorenzo, will be held from 19 to 23 July 2023. The enchanting Via Noele in Castel San Lorenzo (SA), which offers breathtaking views of the suggestive Heat Valley, becomes the perfect theater for this unique experience.
What do you eat at the festival
At the heart of this event are the scazzatielli, also known as cavatieddu. This hand-shaped pasta recalls the shape of a miniature shell, with an evident cavity in the centre. This product, which has roots in medieval cavatielli, is a fundamental part of the region's culinary heritage. In fact, scazzatielli are included in the Regional List of Typical and Traditional Products. During the event, visitors will be able to delight their palates with a rich menu that includes appetizers, scazzatielli with sauce, scazzatielli with pumpkin and sausage, curieddu and marzafegatu, fries with sausage, side dish, dessert, bread, wine and water.
Shows and other activities
In addition to the gastronomic festival, the event includes the ritual of“pairing”. In this rite, the participants simultaneously drink from two bottles of red wine and one of white, dyeing himself to show that he has participated. To complete the rich offer, the event includes musical entertainment, creating a perfect combination of history, tradition, music and quality wine. To facilitate access to the event, a shuttle service is available Via Noele in Castel San Lorenzo.
