At the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the exhibition Amori Divini with 80 works of art on seduction and transformation.

Opens the doors of the 7 June 2017 al Archaeological Museum of Naples, MANN, the exhibition "Divine Love", promoted by MIBACT, which will last until the 16 October. Made in collaboration with Electa, proposes a itinerary in the Greek myths through the interpretation given to them in the 500th and 800th centuries.

The exhibition, located on the first floor of the museum and curated by the archaeologists Anna Anguissola and Carmela Capaldi, will continue until the 16 October, with protagonists 80 works divided into four sections linked by the theme of seduction: "The matter of myth", "The mute form God", "The god transforms", "Body and Spirit".

The exhibition complements the one already underway in the Great Gym of the Pompeii Excavations, entitled Pompeii and the Greeks.

The works of the Amori Divini exhibition

In this magnificent journey will be represented different artistic periods, from the classical age to 800. Just think of the myth of Europe, present in the red-figure crater with "Europa sul toro", a work of 370 BC from the Museum of Sannio Caudino, in Roman art masterpiece "Europa" from the House of Jason in Pompeii and in the seventeenth-century painting by Guido Cagnacci "The rape of Europe".

The show will also pay homage impossible loves like that of Daphne and Apollo or those in which Zeus himself is transformed to join his chosen Ganymede, Danae or Leda. There are also many masterpieces on loan from the Hermitage of St. Petersburg, from the Louvre, from the Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

Before the end of the exhibition, they are scheduled for September meetings with writers, actors, philosophers and artists, inspired by the themes of the exhibition and wanted by the suspended director Paolo Giulierini.
