The Municipality of Naples has announced that one will be built cycle path that will also lead to Scampia and funding has already been allocated amounting to 50 thousand euros for the feasibility project.

The cycle path in question will connect Capodimonte and Scampia, two areas very far from each other, but which can therefore also be reached in bicycle or with the scooter, which has been very successful for the past couple of years.

The track will cross the following Municipalities:

  • Municipality 3 (Stella, San Carlo all'Arena);
  • 7 (Miano, Secondigliano, San Pietro a Patierno);
  • 8 (Piscinola, Marianella, Chiaiano, Scampia).

Work to build the track

According to what was declared by the Municipality, the works can already start since, as mentioned, the technical-economic feasibility project. This project is part of the Biciplan, that is the cycling plan of the city which in turn is part of the SUMP, the urban plan of sustainable mobility.

Basically, it concerns the "Extension of the city cycle network: northern area-Scampia". A few days ago, on April 7, the Municipality of Naples read the conclusions of the conference of services that it decided on the track and therefore the works can start.

The PUMS cycle path will be 163 km for the various planned itineraries and will also be implemented aid systems to overcome the difference in altitude that exists between different areas of Naples which are mostly hilly and alternate plains and higher areas.
