Il animation cinema represents a magical world that fascinates i young people and children of all ages. That's why the project Cath the Moon aims to train, promote and disseminate animation among young people, launching a international festival which represents a great opportunity to broaden the cultural horizons of the little ones to introduce them to different worlds and cultures through cinema.

Il International Animation Film Festival for Children and Teens will be held at Naples from 2 to 6 May 2023.

Il central core of the event is represented by the international competition for animated short films for children and teenagers, to which more than a thousand works from all over the world have been nominated.

Catch the Moon program

During the five days of the festival, spectators will be able to attend screenings, meetings, exhibitions, masterclasses and so much more. At the end of the event, a full week of free streaming movies will be available to viewers to conclude the amazing journey of Catch the Moon.

2 May:

  • 18:00: Inauguration of the exhibition of animated film posters from the Bruno Alberto collection and presentation of the festival programme. (Location: ART33)

3 May:

  • 10:00: All the Pulcinellas – Screening of short films by Emanuele Luzzati and Giulio Gianini starring Pulcinella. With Matteo Pavesi and Silvia Pareti, President and General Secretary of Cineteca Milano. (Location: Calamandrei High School)
  • 11:30: Presentation of the shorts made within the Catch the Moon and Behind The Light projects. With designer and director Ahmed Ben Nessib. (Location: IC 4 Permanent)
  • 8:00 – 14:00: 2D digital animation masterclass for students with Michele Bernardi. (Location: ART33)
  • 18:00 – 20:00: Screening of films in competition – A selection of the over 50 short films that reached the final of the festival. (Location: ART33)

4 May:

  • 10:00: Screening of films in competition - Animated short films from all over the world compete for the prizes of the 2023 edition. (Location: Liceo Calamandrei)
  • 11:30 am: Sand art show – Andrea Arena will enchant the spectators with plays of light and drawings on the sand, to the rhythm of the great cinema soundtracks. (Location: IC 4 Permanent)
  • 9:00 – 13:00: Stop motion masterclass for students with Beatrice Pucci. (Location: ART33)
  • 15 pm: Stop motion masterclass with Beatrice Pucci for adults. (Location: ART00)
  • 18:00: Film screening in competition. (Location: ART33)
  • Streaming from 4 to 11 May – all the films in competition will be visible free of charge on the Cineteca di Milano website cinetecamilano.it.

5 May:

  • 10:00: Film screening in competition. (Location: Calamandrei High School)
  • 12:00: Award ceremony. (Location: ART33)
  • 10:00: Sound design masterclass for students with Stefano Sasso. (Location: ART33)
  • 14 pm: Sound design masterclass with Stefano Sasso dedicated to adults. (Location: ART30)
  • 18:00: TALK: The future of animation in Campania - Francesco Izzo, Giovanni Calvino, Stefania Iannella discuss it. (Location: ART33)

6 May:

  • 10:00 – 13:00: Screening of winning films and opening of the exhibition. (Location: ART33)

May 3-5:

  • 15:00 – 21:00: Exhibition of animated cinema posters. (Location: ART33)
