Girolamini Church in Naples: free visits for the reopening

Great news for the city of Naples, in fact, after many years of closure, finally ropens to the public the wonderful Church of the Girolamini, which is part of the Girolamini Monumental Complex and Library.

The church, which is located in the historic center of the city, has been the subject of important restoration works organized by the UNESCO Project for the Historic Center and could not be visited until this year. Starting from March 21st, you will therefore have the possibility to visit it for free from Tuesday to Sunday. In particular:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the church will be open to visitors from 09:00 to 17:30 with last entry at 16:45
  • Saturday and Sunday from 08 to 30 with last entry at 13

To visit the church it will be necessary to generate the free ticket on the website Italian museums.

The Church of the Girolamini

The history of Church of the Girolamini it dates back to 1586 when the Oratorian fathers of San Filippo arrived in Naples. In the 90s, under the guidance of the Florentine architect Giovan Antonio Dosio, work began on the church which was later consecrated in 1658.

The structure is very large, it is indeed 68 meters long and 28 wide and it is a real treasure chest of priceless treasures. In fact, it contains the works of great artists, among these Massimo Stanzione, Luca Giordano, Battistello Caracciolo, Francesco Solimena, Guido Reni, Sammartino, Joseph de Ribera and others.
