Strong delays on the Circumvesuviana trains on 9 May 2016 due to an accident at Barra

On the morning of Monday May 9 2016 they are found heavy slowdowns on trains of Circumvesuviana due to a serious accident. Indeed, a man has been overwhelmed from one of the trains in transit at the station of Barra.

Naturally, the Fire Brigade and the Police immediately arrived on the site together with the ambulances, but by now the man was already lifeless. So much fear among the passengers who suddenly heard a loud noise due to the impact and initially thought of a collision with another train or a derailment.

The train involved had left Sorrento at 8.26 am and was headed to Naples at approximately 09.24 am, arriving at the Barra station (where it does not stop for service). On his way he found an elderly man lying on the tracks, but the driver's attempt to activate the emergency brake proved futile.

Changes to the route

The circulation between Naples and S.Giorgio, via Barra, has been interrupted to allow the Magistration to be surveyed. The trains to and from Sorrento and Poggiomarino Via Scafati have been routed Via Centro Direzionale, while trains to and from Sarno have continued to circulate normally.
