Bad news for all those who use it every day, for work or school Circumvesuviana as a means of transport, in fact about 30 rides were cut.

This decision was made to avoid resorting to overtime and not be forced to cancel trains every time employees refuse to work extra hours. From today 4 April 2023 therefore the Eav, the Volturno Autonomous Body, will reduce the operating hours programming it on the willingness of workers to accept overtime.

This obviously will fall on travelers who will find fewer trains and will therefore be forced to wait for the first available route.

Commuter protests

The protests of the travelers were not long in coming, in fact every day these trains are crowded by many people who use the Circumvesuviana as a means of transportation. With the cut of about 30 rides, the crowd waiting for the trains will increase who knows if there will be room for everyone on board.

In particular, Enzo Ciniglio commuter committee spokesperson commented on this unfortunate situation, here are his words:

It's a shame. Hours of operation based on the extraordinary performance of employees are not credible and cannot be sold. We are on the verge of scam

Employees find themselves forced to refuse overtime as they ask for greater safety for personnel, insurance coverage and more protection.

The words of the president Eav

Umberto DeGregorio, the president of the Volturno Autonomous Body, explained that currently 20% of the service is carried out in Circumvesuviana with overtime hours:

Recourse to overtime work could be avoided, without the need for further hiring, if an agreement could be reached that would bring driving times from the current 225 minutes to 255 minutes. This would avoid overtime work since the current workforce would be sufficient to cover the service

For Easter day however, the staff who will work on the line Naples-Sorrento will earn 180 euros more.
