"Classic Contemporary", theatrical review for seven midsummer nights in the Cloister of San Domenico Maggiore
Classic Contemporary, a theatrical review for seven midsummer nights, is the cultural event that will make the Convent of San Domenico Maggiore exceptional setting to host the events of the festival Summer in Naples 2014.
From the 18 24 August 2014 they will be held in the splendid and suggestive Cloister of the Church of San Domenico, six theatrical performances which will offer spectators the beauty and charm of the most classical theatrical tradition, such as that of Shakespeare to whom three performances are dedicated, and the audacity and contemporaneity of contemporary dramaturgy. With one goal: to make the "Classic" also "Contemporary" and vice versa.
Richard III, Hamlet, and Twelfth Night written by the "Bardo" will therefore be revisited in a modern key and presented to the public in a new guise that celebrates the past with a clear reference to the present. The other shows, written by contemporary authors, are very current but at the same time bearers of a "universal" meaning.
Classic Contemporary it will be one of the opportunities to experience our places of art and culture in a different and stimulating way, witnessing a new and high quality theatrical production.
