On the occasion of Ministerial G20 Climate, Environment and Energy which will take place in Naples on 22 and 23 July 2021, a temporary traffic device has been set up in some areas of the city.

There are transit bans for both vehicles and pedestrians and access only for authorized persons.

Let's see everything in detail.

Traffic device for vehicles and pedestrians

In these areas and times, the prohibition is in force and only authorized persons can circulate:

From 7.00 am on 21 July until needs ended on 23 July 2021:

  • via Partenope, all the roadway in front of the hotels except the sidewalk on the sea side;
  • via Nazario Sauro, the whole carriageway from the confluence with via Partenope, at the intersection with via Lucilio, except the sidewalk on the sea side;
  • perimeter of the Royal Palace;
  • pedestrian area of ​​the loop of the San Carlo Theater;

From 7.00 to 24.00 on Thursday 22 July:

  • the whole area of ​​Piazza del Plebiscito, except for the colonnade of the Church of San Francesco da Paola and the Palazzo Salerno's interview;
  • piazza Trieste e Trento, between the corner of the prefecture building at the intersection with via Chiaia (height of the “Gambrinus” bar) and the corner of the building adjacent to the church of San Ferdinando except for the central fountain;
  • via Riccardo Filangieri by Candida Gonzaga;
  • via San Carlo except the sidewalk on the side of Galleria Umberto I;

From 7.00 am until needs ended on 23 July:

  • the whole area of ​​Piazza del Plebiscito, except for the colonnade of the Church of San Francesco da Paola and the Palazzo Salerno's interview;
  • piazza Trieste e Trento, between the corner of the prefecture building at the intersection with via Chiaia (height of the “Gambrinus” bar) and the corner of the building adjacent to the church of San Ferdinando except for the central fountain;
    c) via Riccardo Filangieri of Candida Gonzaga;
    d) via San Carlo with the exception of the lane and the sidewalk on the side of the Galleria Umberto I, with the one-way alternating on the lane dedicated to vehicular transit;

In all the areas indicated in the previous paragraphs and at the same times, the following prohibitions apply:

  • prohibition of vehicular and pedestrian transit, except for authorized persons: only pedestrian access allowed on the right-hand sidewalk of via San Carlo, towards piazza Trieste e Trento;
  • on via Partenope, granted access to scheduled and non-scheduled public transport (ANM buses, Taxis, etc.), ASIA heavy vehicles. In addition, from 4.00 to 6.00, the suppliers of the commercial establishments that insist in the area.

From 00.01 on 20 July to requirements completed on 23 July:

  • prohibition of permanent parking with forced removal and prohibition of stopping with revocation of all reserved and / or paid parking areas (blue stripes) and motor vehicles, where it follows:
    a) Trieste and Trento square,
    b) via San Carlo;
    c) via Riccardo Filangieri by Candida Gonzaga.
    Notwithstanding the previous prohibition, the use of personalized parking spaces for authorized disabled people is allowed.

From 7.00 on 22 July to requirements completed on 23 July:

  • suspended the bus stop in via San Carlo (in front of the main entrance of the San Carlo Theater) and in via Partenope,
  • the taxi parking area in via San Carlo is suspended. 

From 00.01 on 20 July to finished needs on 23 July:

prohibition of permanent parking with forced removal and prohibition of stopping with the revocation of all reserved and / or paid parking areas (blue stripes) and motor vehicles, on both sides of the carriageways of the following roads:
a) via Vittorio Emanuele III,
b) via Acton;
c) via Gennaro Serra;
d) via Cesario Console, from the intersection with via Santa Lucia to that with piazza plebiscito;
e) via Nazario Sauro;
f) via Partenope;
g) via Lucilio;
h) via Chiatamone;
i) via Generale Orsini;
j) corso Vittorio Emanuele, from the intersection with via Tasso up to 200 meters after the "Parker's" Hotel,
k) via Tasso, from the intersection with Corso Vittorio Emanuele and up to 200 meters after the “Britannique” Hotel;
l) corso Vittorio Emanuele, from the intersection with via Tasso up to 200 meters towards piazza Saverio Mercadante;
m) Corso Vittorio Emanuele, from the intersection with Piazzetta San Sepolcro and up to number 334;
n) via Catullo, from the stairway height number 6 and up to the intersection with via Orazio,
o) via Carbonara, from the intersection with Steps Santi Apostoli to the intersection with via Santa Sofia,
p) via Santa Sofia to the intersection with vico Santa Sofia;
q) vico Santa Sofia;
r) largo Santi Apostoli;

Notwithstanding the previous prohibitions, the use of customized parking stalls is allowed to authorized disabled people.

From 7.00 am on 21 July to the end of ceased needs on 23 July 2021:

  • prohibition of vehicular transit in via Partenope and via Nazario Sauro (from the confluence with via Partenope to the intersection with via Lucilio); notwithstanding, the transit of scheduled and non-scheduled public transport means (ANM buses, taxis, etc.), ASIA heavy vehicles, as well as from 4.00 to 6.00, of the suppliers of the commercial establishments that insist in the area,
  • suspension of the taxi stand in via Santa Lucia (from the intersection with via Chiatamone to the intersection with via Partenope / via Nazario Sauro);
  • in via Chiatamone: a) two-way traffic; b) obligation to go straight: 1. towards via Domenico Morelli, at the intersection with via Giorgio Arcoleo; 2. towards via via Lucilio, at the intersection with via Santa Lucia;
  • in via Lucilio, obligation to stop and give way to vehicles passing through via Nazario Sauro;
  • in via Giorgio Arcoleo, one-way traffic from piazza Vittoria to via Chiatamone / via Domenico Morelli;
  • in via Nicolò Tommaseo: a) obligation to stop and give way to vehicles passing through via Giorgio Arcoleo; b) obligation to turn right.

On July 22nd from 7.00 am end of needs ended on the same day and on July 23rd from 7.00 am end of needs ended on the same day

  • no vehicle transit in via Gennaro Serra, from the intersection of piazza Santa Maria degli Angeli to piazzetta Carolina;
  • prohibition of vehicular transit in via Giovanni Nicotera, at the intersection with via Santa Teresella agli Spagnoli, except for cars for emergencies and rescue, of the police forces and those of the residents of the Monte i Dio area: via Giovanni Nicotera (section from via Santa Teresella agli Spagnoli to piazza Santa Maria degli Angeli), piazza Santa Maria degli Angeli, vico Monteroduni, via Gennaro Serra, vico S. Spirito di Palazzo, piazza Carolina, via Chiaia, via Nuova Pizzofalcone, via Egiziaca in Pizzofalcone, via Monte di Dio, viale Calascione, Supportico D'Astuti, via Nunziatella, via Generale Parisi, vico Barriera in Pizzofalcone, via Pallonetto in Santa Lucia, vico Solitaria, via Solitaria, piazzetta Salazar, Paggeria ramps;  

From 18.00 pm on 21st July until requirements ended on 23rd July, the taxi rank in Piazza Carolina will be suspended.

From 00.01 on 20 July to requirements completed on 23 July:

  • ban on transit and circulation for vehicles with a mass exceeding 3,5 tons, except for those for scheduled and non-scheduled public transport, in the areas of the Center delimited by the following roads: via Nuova Marina (height of the Church of Santa Maria di Portosalvo ), via marchese Campodisola, piazza Bovio, via cardinale Guglielmo Sanfelice, via Monteoliveto, via Sant'Anna dei lombardi, piazza XNUMX Settembre, piazza Dante, via Pessina, piazza Museo Nazionale, via Salvator Rosa, corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piedigrotta climb, piazza Sannazaro, Galleria Laziale, via Sannazaro, via Caraccolo, via Partenope, via Nazario Sauro, via Acton, via Colombo.  

Via Chiatamone, alternative routes

Since the two-way traffic has been created on via Chiatamone, with possible delays from Chiaia to the Center and vice versa, we recommend using the following roads to lighten the traffic:

  • Town Hall Square - Dante Square - Via Salvator Rosa - Corso Vittorio Emanuele Chiaia / Fuorigrotta area and vice versa;
  • Town Hall Square - Dante Square - Via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi - Ring Road - Fuorigrotta / Chiaia and vice versa
