A special traffic device will be activated on the occasion of the Pope's visit to Naples the next 21 in March

On the occasion of visit of Pope Francis to Naples, the municipality has arranged one special traffic device establishing which are the areas of limitation of the circulation of cars and the areas in which it will be forbidden to stop, as well as the consequent changes to the routes of the means of transport and the methods of access to the area of ​​the pilgrims' coaches.

The conditions in question are included in a trade union ordinance whose provisions will be implemented on 21 March 2015, the day of the Pope's visit. We remember that the Pope will make a series of stages in very specific and symbolic places of Naples, for which the city must be ready to welcome him and make it as easy as possible for him to move from one area to another.

Therefore, specific measures will be adopted and identified ZTL, changes to the ordinary bus and metro routes and special provisions for the coaches of pilgrims.

Limited traffic zone

A large ZTL will be active from the night of 21 March to allow the preparation of the route that will be traveled by the Pope and will affect Scampia, the Decumani and Chiaia. In this restricted traffic area, access will be allowed only to certain categories of vehicles, such as institutional vehicles, police cars or press vehicles. The very large ZTL will start from the night of March 21, so as to allow the insiders to affix what is necessary to make the route suitable for the passage of the Pope.
There are many roads that will undergo variations, changes to the direction of travel, closures to transit, as there are many exemptions provided therefore, to know in detail the traffic device, download the municipal ordinance.
The movements of pilgrims will, however, be facilitated by changes to public transport and by the activity of the interchange parking lots.

Public Transportation and Parking

The ANM buses and the 1 subway trains will undergo changes in routes and timetables, both to ensure the safety of users, and to allow an easier tour of the Pope. In particular, buses will not be able to cross the city entirely from east to west and some lines will be suspended. The Toledo station of the 1 metro line will be closed from 11: 30 at 14: 00. In addition, Acton's elevator will remain closed for the entire day.

All the interchange parking lots (Chiaiano, Frullone, Colli Aminei, Piscinila / Scampia, Policlinico) with the underground line 1 will be operational for a total of 1400 parking spaces and the parking lots of the Centro Direzionale and via Brin will be operational (2100 parking spaces) in the east area.
The Pianura car park (200 spaces) is also functioning in the western area.

Pilgrims' bus

Coaches with pilgrims on board must be accredited on the ANM website by March 16, so as to be authorized to reach the areas close to those where the events will take place and to be able to subsequently reach the appropriate rest areas. All the information necessary for carrying out the route and for passengers to get on and off will be provided to them directly by the ANM, which also reserves the right not to issue the permit in chaos of exhaustion in the availability of seats in the parking areas. In this case, the payment will be refunded.
To obtain the authorization you will have to fill in a form, after which you will receive a ticket to be printed and displayed on the dashboard.
