On stage at the Piccolo Bellini a surreal dialogue between four women-myth of history and Neapolitan culture on the condition of women in the South
29 from October to November 3 2013 will be staged at Piccolo Bellini theater of Naples the show epochs, the theatrical short winner of the last edition of the festival The Court of the Ant.
A young Neapolitan woman wonders about the future of the South and wonders "What went wrong with the story?". His reflection turns into a dream, whose protagonists are four famous women of Neapolitan history and culture, belonging to different times and periods.
So a surreal and ironic dialogue takes place between these four heroines of the past, Giovanna II Durazzo D'Angiò, Maria Carolina of Austria, Matilde Serao and the councilor for equal opportunities of the Municipality of Naples, which hold an all-female salon where they discuss the role of women in the South, and where they make assumptions about the future that will touch the young dreamer.
In an illusory and dreamlike atmosphere, between dances, pantomimes and romanticism, irony will be made on the events, the real episodes and on the "vices" that have made the women protagonists of the "dream" legendary, creating references with the current condition of Southern woman in contemporary times, up to the fateful question: "Why is southern Italy in this condition?"
The question will remain unresolved, no one will be able to express a judgment on what has been, is and will be, and once again we will have to be forced to suspend all evaluation, and to practice aepochè, the Greek word that gives the title to the drama and that "Indicates the suspension of the judgment, that cognitive process that provides for the refraining from an evaluation in the event that there are not sufficient elements available to formulate the judgment".
To design, create and bring on stage epochs un all-female cast starting with the author, Giovanna Pignieri, and the director, Lella Lepre, passing through the actresses, Paola Bocchetti, Ivana D'Alisa, Daniela Ioia, Lella Lepre and Salvatore Esposito's only “male” participation.
The show will be accompanied by an event to be held at Spazio Nea in piazza Bellini on October 30th at 16:00 pm, where the four heroines of epochs they will sip a tea and wonder what went wrong during our history.
