An interesting guided tour of the Basilica of San Domenico Maggiore, with the Sala del Tesoro and the Sacristy, in which women can participate for free
On the occasion of 2015 Women's Day, in Naples will be organized many artistic and cultural events, which also include interesting guided tours in monuments, museums and palaces of significant historical interest. Among these, stands out the guided tour of the Basilica of San Domenico Maggiore, including the Sala del Tesoro.
The event is repeated about a month after the appointment organized for Valentine's Day, but this time it will not be the couple who will benefit from a discount, but the woman, who will enter for free. The entrance ticket includes a visit to the Basilica, but also a suggestive explanation of the precious finds present in the Treasury Room and a passage to the Sacristy.
The initiative was organized by ParteNeapolis Cooperativa Sociale and the whole visit will focus mainly onAncient Idea of Beauty and on the history of the 400 costume. In fact, it will be possible to admire the splendid original burial clothes of Isabella and Maria d'Aragona, kept in the huge and precious walnut wardrobes of the 700.
But the Sala del Tesoro (more properly called the Hall of Furniture) is not only this, because other rare finds are also kept inside the ancient cabinets, such as the sacred clothes worn by sovereigns and nobles, the reliquaries of some saints and the liturgical vestments of the Dominican friars. In the room, originally, the hearts of the kings Charles II of Anjou, Alfonso V of Aragon and Ferdinand of Aragon were also kept in display cases which, after the arrival of the French, were merged, with the consequent disappearance of the organs.
A visit certainly very interesting in one of the little known places of our city, albeit within one of the most important basilicas of Naples. Visit that will also be repeated on 22 March.
