Grape festival in Solopaca 2019, protagonist is the Falanghina doc
2019 Grape Festival in Solopaca, parade of floats in the village of Falanghina doc
The ancient village of Solopaca by 5 12 to September will be the scene of the 2019 edition of the Grape Festival, an eno-gastronomic event that wants to be a tribute to the excellent grapes that have allowed this village of Benevento, located in the Telesina valley, to earn the prestigious denomination of controlled origin. For this village it is certainly the most awaited event of the year.
For over a week the streets of the small town under the mountain Taburno will be the scene of musical events and will host stands with the main gastronomic attractions of the area.
The highlight of the events, Sunday 8 September at 9,30 am, will undoubtedly be the parade of allegorical floats, built by the master wheelers and completely covered with grapes glued one by one. The floats will parade through the streets of the town to be admired and voted for.
The parade of allegorical floats, enriched by the historical procession of the dukes Ceva Grimaldi, from folk groups, flag-wavers, majorettes and bottari, held every year on the second Sunday of September.
Solopaca is one of the homelands of the falanghina del Sannio, a white doc wine that presents itself either as a passito or as a sparkling wine. There are two historical areas of production of the falanghina: the Taburno, or the southern slopes of Montesarchio and Bonea and the Campi Flegrei, which are in the province of Naples.
The name seems to derive from phalanx, which is the pole used to keep the very vigorous shoots upright, which do not allow sapling cultivation.
But the thing is uncertain, given that the first certain news of the name appear in the treaties of agriculture of the mid-nineteenth century
As a good white, the falanghina gets along particularly well with crustaceans and seafood.
