The May weekends will be special with visits and tastings of the Food and Art Tour at Porta Capuana

Under the program of the May of the 2015 Monuments, come back with a special appointment the food and art tourist-gastronomic itinerary, which will introduce you to the artistic beauties and culinary specialties of Porta Capuana, ancient commercial and cultural port of Naples, of the Aragonese age.

The project was conceived and promoted by the Informal Local Development Agency Aste e Nodi in collaboration with the coordination I love porta Capuana and the Municipality of Naples.

The visits will take place every weekend and includeclassic itinerary and one of the colors, with a different color for each weekend and a particular path to follow. Both itineraries will be accompanied by the tasting of the drink "La Sciantosa", (an aperitif based on white wine and orange juice, drunk from singer of Neapolitan coffees in the 20s) and of traditional Neapolitan delicacies, such as sfogliatella, fried pizza, babà, octopus broth.

Classic itinerary

The classic route includes three stages (breakfast, aperitif and lunch) and begins with a visit to the Gothic church of San Giovanni a Carbonara and continues to the Renaissance complex of Santa Caterina a Formiello, a UNESCO heritage site, which houses the relics of the Martyrs of Otranto killed by the Turks. The tour will continue inside of the former Lanificio Sava, testimony of considerable industrial activity in the South, and in front of the Renaissance-style turreted arch. The last stop will be at the fountain of Santa Caterina in Formiello, restored thanks to the cultural association “Le due Sirene-Livin 'and lovin' Naples”.

Itinerary program with colors

  • Weekend 8-9-10 May: BLACK AND WHITE, colors of the Dominicans: the veil of Santa Caterina da Siena; the home of the friars: former Sava mill, the monastery-factory
  • Weekend 15-16-17 May: BLUE, the water from the Sebeto to Formiello, rivers, spas, wells and underground aqueducts at the eastern edge of the historic center.
  • Weekend 22-23-24 May: YELLOW, the tuff of San Giovanni a Carbonara; the babà and the fried pizza.
  • Weekend 29-30-31 May | 1-2 June: GREEN, and oasis in the heart of the city: the historical park of King Ladislao in Carbonara and the cloister of the creeks.
