The Mother Museum of Naples opens for free for the 2017 Contemporary Day: guided tours and activities are scheduled!
Saturday 14 October 2017 it is celebrated Contemporary Day, this year in its thirteenth edition. For the occasion, the Mother Museum of Naples proposes aextraordinary opening free with a rich program of events.
Throughout the day will be held guided tours and educational activities, always free, to discover the newly inaugurated exhibitions: “To_form a collection: The Show Must Go_ON” and “To_form a collection: for an art archive in Campania”.
Next to the exhibition organizers, to guide visitors There will be also the same director of the museum, Andrea Viliani. The title Pane Quotidiano is a symbol of this edition: just like one of the fundamental foods, in fact, too art represents nourishment for the spirit.
Since 2013, Madre has been a member of Amaci, the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums which created the Day of Contemporary Art with the aim of to spread modern and contemporary art. To participate in the activities of the day is reservation is mandatory.

To create a collection: for an art archive in Campania

The director of the Madre Andrea Viliani will lead the visitors to discover the exhibition Per_formare una collezione: for an art archive in Campania. The project focuses on archival practices, video-film production, the relationship between the work and space-time and deepens the relationship between the museum and the territory.
To_form a collection: The Show Must Go_ON

Illustrating the progressive formation of the Madre collection, the director will present the works of more than 50 artists in an integrated path.
Alessandro Mendini

The curators Arianna Rosica and Gianluca Riccio introduce visitors to the two works by Alessandro Mendini, who in the collection enjoy a site-specific setting, as part of the final chapter of the project Per_formare a collection: the Show Must Go_ON.
Kaya workshop
From the 10 19.30
Throughout the day you can attend the Kaya Napoli workshop, during which the students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples will work with the artists Kerstin Brätsch and Debo Eilers, members of the Kaya collective.
