The events of Girando around Vesuvius will take us to discover the rural areas of the Vesuvius National Park with excursions, tastings and games

Le rural areas of the Vesuvius National Park are rich are only paths, variegated vegetation, evidence of lava or fumarole stratifications, but also of scents, flavors, colors of an area that offers a huge agricultural and food heritage.

Thanks to the initiative "Turning around the Vesuvius 2015", Promoted by the Cittadini per il Parco Movement, we will be able to discover the Vesuvian countryside, all the most important wineries active in the area, but also the ancient and modern production and processing techniques of food products such as legumes, fruits, bread and wine.

"Turning around Vesuvius" is divided into numerous events that started as early as April with a first stop on the 19th at Trecase, and will continue fino and november 2015. Every Sunday scheduled in the calendar will be dedicated to the discovery of one of the municipalities of Vesuvius and its typical products, in addition to the visit of many historical centres sites on the slopes of Vesuvius.

We will assist to sweets competitions, they can be relaxing picnic, we will take walks, but also excursions and guided tours. Not only that, because they will be carried out tastings of local specialties like the well-known Lacryma Christi wine or local fruits such as apricots, cherries, citrus fruits and even different varieties of legumes.

Sunday 10 May | Terzigno - Boscotrecase
The "pota di maggio"
Visit to the Lacryma Christi vineyards to witness green pruning, a fundamental cultivation technique for the quality of the grapes to be vinified. It will be an opportunity for a walk in the countryside among the vineyards.

Sunday 21 June | Sant'Anastasia - Somma Vesuviana
The cherries of Monte Somma
Cherries are among the most important products of the Monte Somma area, with different varieties suitable for both jams and table. We will visit the companies of the territory and we will have a lunch on reservation in an agritourism company.

Sunday 28 June | Pollena Trocchia - Sant'Anastasia
Apricot day
Local companies will be visited and over one hundred varieties of Vesuvian apricot will be discovered. In the afternoon, in Pollena Trocchia tastings, market exhibition and pastry contest.

Sunday 7 July | Herculaneum - Massa di Somma
The harvest of the Piennolo del Vesuvio dop tomato
Visit to the manufacturing companies. Let's learn how to make "Piennolo". Lunch by reservation in a farmhouse with spaghetti with Piennolo del Vesuvio dop tomatoes.

Sunday 13 September | Ottaviano - San Giuseppe Vesuviano
Late summer fruits. Walnuts, hazelnuts and rowanberries.
Visit to the farms in the area: we will witness the collection of walnuts and rowanberries and the drying of the hazelnuts harvested in August. Lunch by reservation in a farmhouse.

October | Sum Vesuviana
His Majesty the Cod. The hundred ways to cook Stocco and Cod.
Visit to the production facilities and evening event in the Municipality of Somma Vesuviana. Date to be defined.

October | Pollena Trocchia - Sant'Anastasia
Lat harvest of the Catalanesca grapes - visit to the vineyards and cellars.
Date to be defined.

November | Boscoreale - Boscotrecase
The "garden oranges". Date to be defined.
Guided visits to the citrus groves of the area and to the "gardens" of private houses. Tastings of local oranges and different varieties of fragrant mandarins.
