Goran Bregovic returns to perform live in Naples in a free concert at the Rotonda Diaz
The Bosnian musician Goran Bregovic returns to his beloved city of Naples to perform in a must concert with free admission to be held Tuesday 22 July 2014 at the Round Diaz, in the splendid setting of the Neapolitan seafront, in the context of Dock of Sounds (the series of free concerts of July in Naples).
Goran Bregovic is one of the most famous composers in the world, born in Sarajevo to a Croatian father and a Serbian mother, he started playing the violin at an early age, but was expelled from school for lack of talent. It was only from the age of 16 that he began to approach guitar and folk music, forming bands with which he played in the summer on the Dalmatian coast. A few years after his musical group, Kodeski, it was invited to play in Naples, where they remained to perform evenings in some prestigious clubs in Naples and Ischia where they supported the famous Italian group of Pooh.
That's why for Goran Bregovic Naples symbolically represents the beginning of his musical journey and his career as a musician, and he was soon joined by his family with whom he lived for a few years. When the Kodeskis disbanded Bregović returned to Sarajevo where he became a famous composer of soundtracks cinematographic. His music is characterized by a particular sound that comes from Southern Gypsy and Slavic themes and is the result of the fusion of traditional Balkan popular polyphonic music with tango and brass bands.
Among his most recent successes the performance in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Turin in 2007 with the Wedding and Funeral Band at Crazy Live Music. the performance at the Sanremo Festival accompanying Samuele Bersani in the performance of “Romagna mia” in 2012, and his appointment as Maestro Concertatore for the 2012 edition of the Notte della Taranta.
Goran Bregovic he will perform at the Rotonda Diaz in Naples together with the Wedding and Funeral Band, offering the Neapolitan public a live performance full of different musical nuances, which mix the sounds of the West and the East of Europe enriched by folk-rock.
