Il 17 December 2016 to the Lower Church of Saints Severino and Sossio in Naples will be brought on stage "Song of Christmas" by Charles Dickens, a show for children between the ages of 7 and 10. This novel, which is part of the “The Christmas Books” series, is famous all over the world and is enjoyed by adults and children alike.
The Christmas Carol was for Dickens a critique of corrupt society, a desire to highlight the problems of the time such as illiteracy, child exploitation and poverty, in a different way than usual. at times touching and at times funny.
The show tells about the conversion of Ebanise Scrooge, stingy and mean old man, who refuses to celebrate the Christmas holidays. On a Christmas Eve evening, the ghost of his friend Jacob Marley appears and tells him that his afterlife was not pleasant due to the bad behavior he had had when he was alive. The ghost points out that his life had been very similar to Scrooge's and that he had time to redeem himself. Before disappearing, he informs him that he would receive the visit of three spirits: Christmas past, Christmas present and Christmas to come.
The purpose of the visits is to make him relive the most important moments of his past, to make him notice how poor people can be happy with little and to celebrate Christmas in company, while he with all his money is alone. The third spirit shows him some scenes of the funeral of the son of his only employee Bob who, because of his poverty, could not cure his illness. Hence its conversion and the desire to change, in fact after that night he begins to smile and help others, giving Bob a raise.
A show not to be missed that will appeal to children and will create some reason for reflection in adults.
