Il Marchese del Grillo at the Augusteo Theater of Naples with Enrico Montesano

The show Il Marchese del Grillo, inspired by Monicelli's film, will be staged at the Augusteo Theater in Naples!

To take on the role of the Marquis will be theRoman actor Enrico Montesano which will embody a historical figure that really existed during the Papal Rome period of the early nineteenth century.

The Marquis Onofrio del Grillo is a noble guard of Pope Pius VII, who he spends his days lazing and preparing jokes for everyone, including the Pope. His attitude changes when Napoleon invades the Papal State and the French enter Rome.

The meeting with a young and beautiful actress, and the friendship with a young French officer, make him leave Rome for Paris. But after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, the Marquis del Grillo returns to Rome, where he finds a threat of death sentence for his high betrayal of the Pope.
