The president of the Campania region, Vincent DeLuca, is considering the implementation of a plan concerning the new territorial health, in such a way that this is as close as possible to all the needs of citizens. This new project plans to carry out approx 169 community houses, 45 community hospitals e 58 territorial operational centers.

De Luca's project

In particular, the community houses they will be multipurpose structures that will offer citizens primary and specialist assistance, also providing social and health services. Here you can undergo diabetic and oncological screening, spirometry tests and electrocardiogram, as well as blood tests and vaccinations.

Community hospitals instead they will be structures where citizens will be able to carry out low-intensity treatments, or a short stay. Here you can perform cardiological and haematological examinations, ultrasound scans and function tests. Everything is designed in such a way as to lighten the burden of the first aid.

The operational centers instead they will be concerned with the continuity of care, the coordination of services and health integration.

The investment for the new project

In this way, by creating these structures, a series of problems can be avoided, the waiting time for treatment will be reduced and equal access to them will be guaranteed. For this project, which should be completed in about 3 years, the Campania region will invest approx 380 million euros.

Obviously, as stated by De Luca there are various question marks that will need to be addressed before developing the project, these would concern:

  • staff
  • the disparity between the regions on the distribution of funds for health
  • the calculation of the resources allocated to health facilities.
