The Archaeological Park of Pompeii is the protagonist of an incredible discovery which took place a few days ago during the excavations carried out in Civita Giuliana, 700 meters northwest of Pompeii, where the remains of three horses were found a few years ago.
This time they were unearthed the remains of two men, about 40 years old, wrapped in a warm wool cloak and next to him, his young slave, who died during the great explosion of Vesuvius in 79 AD

This incredible discovery was made possible thanks to the technique of making casts, that is, a plaster cast is dropped into the cavities left by bodies or other objects after the eruption of the Volcano and thanks to this it was possible to bring the two bodies to light with all their characteristics.
The man and his slave lie on their backs, both with their hands resting on their chests and with their fingers bent. Thanks to the improvements in the intaglio technique it was possible to see even the smallest details, such as skull bones and teeth, which are in fact partially visible, or as well as the curling of the tunic on the belly which suggests it is a heavy fabric, probably wool.
