Kate Middleton, for her walk on the BAFTA 2023 red carpet alongside her husband, Prince William, chose to wear a pair of Zara earrings that cost just $28. Cheap chic is now the new trend.
Sunday February 19, 2023 on principle William and Kate Middleton made their long-awaited return to the BAFTA 2023 red carpet for the first time since 2020. The Princess of Wales, now 41, wowed everyone in a white gown by Alexander McQueen at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Middleton previously wore the same gown to the 2019 BAFTAs, but for her second outing, she swapped out the original floral shoulder appliqués for a flowing stripe of matching fabric.
As a match for the dress, the wife of Prince William chose a pair of black velvet opera gloves and Zara earrings in the shape of cascading flowers – the latter sold for only dollars 28 before they (obviously) sold out – to give a fresh touch to the Greek-style dress.
Prince William and Kate Middleton, why did they only return to the BAFTAs this year?
Last year the most loved royal couple by the British it had missed the television and film awards due to scheduling conflicts. A year earlier, the prince William – who was supposed to present a speech at the event organized in virtual mode – had pulled out due to the death of Prince Philip.
Middleton's last dress at the 2020 BAFTAs had been another rewear royal: a white and gold dress of Alexander McQueen, which he already wore during a visit to Malaysia in 2012.
In addition to special royal guests, Sunday's show also featured stars such as Cate Blanchett e Jamie Lee Curtis. The BAFTAs 2023 also honored the memory of Queen Elizabeth II with a tribute led by Helen Mirren.
The actress has won both a BAFTA and a Oscar Prize for her portrayal of the late ruler in the film "The Queen" of 2006.
