The Republic brings the third edition of its festival to Naples! Among the guests Alessandro Baricco, Roberto Benigni, Paolo Sorrentino and Gabriele Salvatores
The Republic of Ideas, the festival organized by the newspaper La Repubblica, arrive at Napoli, where for five days, from 5 to 8 June 2014, there will be numerous meetings, shows and cultural events.
La Repubblica, and its director Ezio Mauro, have chosen the city of Naples as a starting point for "Rewriting the country", which represents the theme of this edition of the festival. Ezio Mauro indeed, he declared that "To build a better future you have to start from the South. The city is a wonderful stage, but we have also chosen it to be an active subject".
Piazza del Plebiscito, Royal Palace, the San Carlo Theater, Piazza del Gesù and other famous Neapolitan places will host a dense program of meetings, debates, theatrical performances, exhibitions, readings and workshops. But not only. Readers and spectators can compare themselves with the same journalists de La Repubblica who will set up a real editorial office in the field, on the model of Anglo-Saxon "live journalism" that takes to the streets to talk to the reader on current issues such as unemployment and, work, school, research, cultural heritage and families, to build and give form to information.
Circa 80 are the appointments scheduled in Naples from 5 to 8 June 2014, distributed in eight locations in the city and which will feature more than one hundred and fifty speakers, musicians, actors. All events are free admission and bookable online, subject to availability.
The festival The Republic of Ideas will be inaugurated 5 June to 12: 30 on the terrace of Palazzo Reale, where there will be a salute to the city by the mayor Luigi De Magistris, with Ezio Mauro and Carlo De Benedetti.
