Since last April 15th, via del Parco Regina Margherita in Naples becomes yard open. An extraordinary maintenance project, worth over three million euros, which will change circulation and daily life in the Chiaia district until early June 2025.

Details of the works at Parco Margherita

La maintenance of Via del Parco Regina Margherita, which began on 15 April 2024 and scheduled until 7 June 2025, is a work of great importance financed through a loan from the European Investment Bank for a total of € 3.138.748,03. The company The Metropoli Cooperative Society, in consortium with Aurora 78 Cooperative Society, won the contract on the low end.

The works concern the resurfacing of the road surface and the updating of the underlying infrastructure. The operation of the construction site will be managed with mobile construction sites, which will gradually move along the way to reduce the impact on citizens' daily lives and the availability of parking spaces for disabled people, which will be adequately reallocated following the progress of the works.

Changes to the road system in Parco Regina Margherita

During extraordinary maintenance works, the road system was impaired via del Parco Regina Margherita will undergo major changes to better manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of both pedestrians and drivers. The road will be used for unique way of circulation used only downhill, while via Pontano it will only be used uphill.

For vehicles headed towards Corso Vittorio Emanuele starting from Amedeo square, the route will be diverted away Via Crispi e via Pontano. Regarding public transport, buses will follow an alternative route via Via Crispi, via Schipa e via Giordani to reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele, thus adapting to the new traffic provisions.

  • Via del Parco Margherita: used for unique way of circulation only downhill.
  • Via Pontano: used exclusively for uphill traffic.

  • Traffic diversion:
    • Vehicles heading to Corso Vittorio Emanuele from Piazza Amedeo must travel along Via Crispi and Via Pontano.
  • Bus routes:
    • Buses will travel along via Crispi, via Schipa and via Giordani to reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

Changes to public transport

With the start of work in via del Parco Regina Margherita, public transport routes will also undergo significant changes to adapt to the new traffic scheme. Here are the main changes:

  • Line 128: modified to bypass the construction zone. After reaching Amedeo square, will continue for Via Crispi, via Schipa, via Giordani, and finally Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The return route will remain unchanged.
  • NC and NC27 lines: they will also follow a similar itinerary starting from Piazza Amedeo, crossing via Crispi, via Schipa and via Giordani, to then enter Corso Vittorio Emanuele and follow their usual routes.
  • Temporarily suspended stops: the stops 2947, 2274, and 2275 will be non-operational for the duration of the works, requiring passengers to use nearby alternatives.
