Luci d'Artista in Salerno 2016 / 2017: theme, routes, markets and cribs

The routes, the theme, the markets, the cribs and all the lights that will be installed in Salerno for the 2016/2017 Artist Lights!

Christmas is slowly approaching and preparations are already in full swing for the 2016/2017 Artist Lights in Salerno , which this year too will amaze us with the many plays of light and shapes in every corner of the city centre.

The light installations will be inaugurated on November 5th at 17.00 pm and will remain on until January 22nd 2017.

The city of Salerno will once again be awash with lights and colors , and the many characters that delight both adults and children each year. Each year, a theme is chosen for the installations, and the main protagonists are generally fairytale characters , dragons, exotic creatures, elements of the universe, and much more. This year, many new features are planned, including a Ferris wheel and sand nativity scenes.

The lights are set up in the squares, in the villa, in the streets and along the Lungomare Trieste , which is usually also the place where you can find the many Christmas markets.

The theme

This year's theme will be One Thousand and One Nights , and a themed setting will be recreated in Piazza Flavio Gioia. Similarly, Piazza Sant'Agostino will feature Oriental Atmospheres . Furthermore, the entire center will be filled with evocative giant figures .

Corso Vittorio Emanuele, on the other hand, will see the installation of a cascade of lights, chandeliers and illuminated globes for the theme Infinite spaces.
In Enchanted Garden in the Villa Comunale there will be lights dedicated to new fairy tales compared to other years and in the new Santa Teresa beach there will be penguins and luminous palms.

Christmas tree

As for the large Christmas tree of approximately 28 metres that will be set up in Piazza Portanova, we can say that it will probably be inaugurated on 3 December.

The thematic routes

The four itineraries of the Salerno Artist Lights, like last year, will be: Myth , Dream , Time , and Christmas . Each of these themes will feature specific streets and squares with specific illuminations. Here's what they will be.

Ferris wheel

This year's big news will be the installation of a 55-meter-high Ferris Wheel , brought directly from Amsterdam. From that height, you'll be able to admire the entire Gulf of Salerno, and there will be 28 cabins. You can read all the details and prices in our in-depth article.

Sand cribs

Another big new feature this year will be the Sand Nativity , the sand nativity scene displays. They will be on display at the Stazione Marittima from December 8th to January 8th.

The Village of Santa Claus

Not exactly in the city, but in Irno Park, Santa Claus's Village will be set up with its magical atmosphere, songs, dances, and all its inhabitants who will help you discover how toys are made.

Salerno Luci d'Artista Card

Another major new feature is the Salerno Luci d'Artista Card for tourists, families, groups, and schools, which offers benefits and discounts at museums, shops and restaurants, parking, events, and attractions. It costs €5 and can be purchased starting October 31st. Participating businesses can be found online.

Luci d'Artista App

To better navigate the lights, you can download the Luci d'Artista Comune di Salerno app . It allows you to scan QR codes on the panels or the map and explore the details of the cards and lights. If you leave Bluetooth with Beacon turned on, you'll receive additional content as you walk.
