The routes, the theme, the markets, the cribs and all the lights that will be installed in Salerno for the 2016/2017 Artist Lights!
Il Christmas slowly approaches and preparations are already underway Luci d'Artista 2016 / 2017 in Salerno, which again this year will amaze us with the many plays of lights and shapes in every corner of the city center.
The light installations will be inaugurated on November 5 at 17.00 and they will remain lit. until 22 January 2017.
The city of Salerno, therefore, will again be invaded by lights and colors and from the many characters that in every edition make the joy of adults and children. Each year a theme is chosen for the installations and generally the main protagonists are the fairy tale characters, dragons, exotic creatures, elements of the Universe and much more. This year there are also many new features including the Ferris wheel and cribs of sand.
The lights are mounted in the squares, in the villa, in the streets and in the Lungomare Trieste, which in general is also the place where many can be found Christmas markets.
The theme
This year's theme will be The Thousand and One Nights, in fact, the themed setting in Piazza Flavio Gioia will be rebuilt. Similarly, in Piazza Sant'Agostino there will be Atmospheres of the East. Moreover, all the center will be invaso da giant figures very suggestive.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele, on the other hand, will see the installation of a cascade of lights, chandeliers and illuminated globes for the theme Infinite spaces.
In Enchanted Garden in the Villa Comunale there will be lights dedicated to new fairy tales compared to other years and in the new Santa Teresa beach there will be penguins and luminous palms.
Christmas tree
As for the big one instead Christmas tree of about 28 meters that will be mounted in Piazza Portanova, we can say that probably will be inaugurated 3th December.
The thematic routes
The four paths of the Luci d'Artista of Salerno, as last year, will be: the Mito, Dream, Time , Christmas. Each of these themes will affect certain streets and squares with specific lights. Here's what they will be.

Ferris wheel
The big news this year will be the installation of a Ferris wheel high 55 meters and coming directly from Amsterdam. From that height it will be possible to admire the entire Gulf of Salerno and 28 cabins will be provided. You can read all the details and prices in our in-depth article.
Sand cribs
Another big news this year will be the Sand Nativity, that is the set up of Sand Nativity Scenes. They will be found at the Maritime Station from 8 December to 8 January.
The Village of Santa Claus
Not really in the city, but in the Irno Park, the Santa's Village with its magic atmosphere, the songs, the dances and all its inhabitants that will make you discover how the toys are made.
Salerno Luci d'Artista Card
Another big news is the Salerno Luci d'Artista Card for tourists, families, groups and schools that entitles you to advantages and discounts in museums, commercial and restaurant activities, parking lots, events and attractions. It has a price of 5 € and can be purchased from the 31 October. The member activities can be viewed online.

Luci d'Artista App
To find your way around the lights, you can download the app Luci d'Artista Municipality of Salerno. It will give you the chance to scan the QRCodes on the panels or on the map and thus explore the details on the tabs and lights. If you leave Bluetooth on with Beacon, you will receive additional content while walking.
