Le art subways are acquiring more and more importance in the international art scene. This month, the city of Naples is preparing to celebrate its architectural and artistic jewel: the Materdei station. Friends of Naples, ANM and the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples join forces to present MetroArt May 2023 – An artistic journey at Materdei station.
The initiative focuses on the importance of artistic and architectural heritage of this extraordinary station, a masterpiece designed by theAtelier Mendini.

The synergy between the Neapolitan Mobility Company, Friends of Naples and the Naples Academy of Fine Arts aims to promote and preserve the rich Neapolitan artistic heritage through events and cultural initiatives.
Visitors will be able to participate in free guided tours of the Materdei station from Monday to Saturday, from 10:30 to 12:30. During these visits, you will have the opportunity to explore the extraordinary architecture and works of art present in the station.
A team of professionals specialized in Didactics and cultural mediation of heritage, formed by ANM and the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, will guide the participants in the discovery of public works of art and ongoing or planned restoration projects. The aim is to raise awareness of the public protection and enhancement of a symbol of the city of Naples.
