Two Van Gogh masterpieces stolen 14 years ago and seized from the Camorra in a temporary exhibition at the Capodimonte Museum

After the exhibition on Vermeer the director of the National Museum of Capodimonte Sylvain Bellenger has announced the dates of the special exhibition that will see protagonists i two paintings by Van Gogh stolen fourteen years ago and found by the Guardia di Finanza in September 2016 in a villa in Castellammare di Stabia, whose story was also told in a comic book produced by the Italian School of Comix.

The two paintings, "The beach of Scheveningen" is "La Nuenen church", Will be on display on the second floor of the famous museum of Naples for three weeks from the 7 February 2017 before their return to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, next to the room where one of the pearls of the Neapolitan museum is kept, "The Flagellation of Christ" by Caravaggio, , Namely the largest and most monumental canvas of the works performed by the painter at the end of his Neapolitan stay.
It will be possible to admire both masterpieces without any increase in the admission price.

But the 2017 will be a year full of initiatives for the Museum of Capodimonte. In addition to the temporary exhibition of the two Van Goghs it will be the turn of one exhibition on Picasso that will be the beginning of the events of the three-year program "Picasso and the Mediterranean". This exhibition will be inaugurated in April 2017 and will see the exhibition of the "Parade" canvas the biggest picture in the world, 11 meters for 17, for the entire length in the party hall as well as the presence of 68 works including sculptures, paintings on Pulcinella and drawings.
Similarly, at the Pompeii Excavations, the costumes of the show will be put on display and will be staged in the Teatro Grande at the same excavations.
