In the month of August 2017, the MADRE Museum of Naples is free and you can freely visit the temporary and permanent exhibitions!
Il MADRE Museum of Naples also this year foresees thefree admission for the whole month of August 2017 and for anyone who wants to visit it.
It is now a fixed annual initiative that allows everyone to admire the permanent and temporary collections of the Donna Regina Museum of Contemporary Art, a very effective way to bring people closer to art.
The exhibitions in progress during the summer are three and concern works by international and Italian artists, while thein situ work by Daniel Buren at the entrance to the museum. Even families can have fun and learn at the same time thanks to the activities organized by the Department of Education between workshops and visits suitable even for the little ones.
Recall, however, that the day of Ferragosto the museum will be closed.
Exhibitions at MADRE for summer 2017
The man who measures the clouds
This is not a collection, but The man who measures the clouds it is a very significant installation placed on the roof of the museum. It is made by the Belgian artist Jan Fabre and is a hymn to the dreamers and also a reference to the release of prisoners from Alcatraz after the Second World War.
Wade Guyton and Stephen Prina
These are two exhibitions, those of the artists Wade Guyton and Stephen Prina, which use different artistic expressions. Guyton, with "We arrived“, Makes use of inkjet printers, and various supports including the canvas, to impress a series of recurrent signs previously made with Photoshop and communicate the feelings arising during his stay in Naples. It is also an allegorical work on digital and global inter and hyper-connections. Visits until 11 September.
Stephen Prina, with “English for foreigners”, usa painting, photography, engraving, sculpture, sound and video to tell the story of his family who emigrated to America during fascism. It will be open to visitors until the 16 October.
Roberto Cuoghi - Perla Pollina
The Perla Pollina exhibition has been set up at MADRE as the only Italian venue. It's a retrospective on Roberto Cuoghi, one of the most mysterious and enigmatic artists of his generation. With different unconventional techniques and materials, which the artist blends in every possible way, focuses on the concepts of simulacrum and symbol, devotion and superstition, transformation and metamorphosis, memory and immanence. The exhibition includes 70 works documenting Cuoghi's career.
It can be visited until September 18.
To_form a collection #1, 2, 3 and 4
These are four stages of one large project born in 2013 aimed at establishing a permanent collection in the Mother Museum with the support of various artists, collectors and gallery owners. With the stage number 4, the Museum will be enriched even more than dozens of works and all those currently present are some of the most important collections of contemporary art in Naples.
