Sunday 9 June an important event will be held in the waters of our seafront, on Via Caracciolo: the Absolute Italian swimming championship in open water, competition valid for selecting the participants in the next swimming world championships, which will take place in Barcelona.
The race will take place in the waters included in the section between Round Diaz and Broken column of Piazza Vittoria and, among its excellent protagonists, there will be Martina Grimaldi, Olympic bronze medalist in swimming during the London Olympics.
We will leave at 10,00 hours and the swimmers will have to travel a distance of 10 km.
It is the first time that this competition takes place in the shadow of Vesuvius and the citizens of Naples will be lucky enough to be able to attend a competition in which the best swimmers and the best swimmers of our country, hoping to earn a place for the 13th July World Championships in the Catalan capital.
To welcome them, a village set up ad hoc, with tents and various structures to accommodate athletes, technicians and any guests.
The organization of the event was possible thanks to the collaboration of the State Police and the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro Napoli, the precious help of the Circolo Canottieri Naples and the patronage of the Municipality of Naples and the Campania Regional Committee of the Italian Swimming Federation.
