Neapolis Marathon 2023, changes to transport and closed roads

Sunday October 1 2023, the city of Naples will host the renowned sporting event "Neapolis Marathon 2023“. To ensure the correct running of the event, the Common has made a series of changes to the roads and public transport services managed by theANM.

These changes, essential to ensure safety and traffic flow, will result the temporary closure of some roads and review of the itineraries of some lines of public transport.

Roads closed

To allow the passage of marathon participants, various city arteries they will be closed to traffic from 07 to 30, as follows:

  • Via Cesario Console
  • Via Nazario Sauro
  • Via Partenope
  • Via Caracciolo
  • Piazza della Repubblica
  • Sannazaro Street and Square
  • Viale Gramsci
  • Largo Sermoneta
  • Via Christopher Columbus
  • Via Vespucci
  • The Rotonda Duca degli Abruzzi
  • The Rotonda Sant'Erasmo
  • Via Volta
  • Via Marina
  • Via De Gasperi
  • Via Depretis
  • Piazza Bovio
  • Corso Umberto
  • Piazza Municipio
  • Via Vittorio Emanuele
  • Via San Carlo
  • Piazza Trieste and Trento
  • Piazza Carolina
  • Via Santa Lucia
  • Dumas Street

Changes to tram lines

The tram lines will suffer a suspension from the starting service from 07:00 until 14:00, with a check of the tram station before resuming service.

Changes to bus lines

Numerous bus lines will undergo changes in their ordinary routes:

  • R2-154 lines: They will travel the Brin-Garibaldi-Foria-Dante-Matteotti-Monteoliveto route and return.
  • Line 151: Used on the Garibaldi-Foria-Dante-Matteotti-Monteoliveto route and return.
  • Line 128: It will limit the route to Piazza Vittoria where it will park.
  • Line 140: Departing from Capo Posillipo, it will travel along Via Petrarca, Via Orazio, Via Mergellina, limiting the route to Piazza Vittoria, the return is unchanged along Via Posillipo.
  • Lines 116-175-196: Departing from the Via Brin terminus, they will travel along Corso Lucci, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Garibaldi roundabout, Vialone Centrale towards the station, Corso Lucci, Via Ferraris and respective routes; returning towards the Brin in the direction of Garibaldi, they reverse direction at the Lucci-Ferraris roundabout without passing through Corso Lucci.
  • Line 195: Coming from Via Argine, once you reach Via Volta, turn onto Corso Lucci, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Garibaldi roundabout, Vialone Centrale towards the station, Corso Lucci, Via Ferraris, right onto Via Gianturco, turn around at Sant'Erasmo and follow your route.
  • Line 202: Suspended from the start of service until 14pm.
  • 201 and 204 lines: (Operated by bus) They will limit the route to Via Diaz – Monteoliveto.
  • Line 254: (Operated by bus) Coming from Portici, once in Via Volta, turn towards Corso Lucci, Piazza Garibaldi, Corso Garibaldi and follow your route to Piazza P. Umberto. Coming from Via Nicolini, once you reach Piazza Garibaldi, turn into Vialone Centrale towards the station, Corso Lucci, Via Ferraris, Via Gianturco, turn around at Sant'Erasmo and follow your route.
  • Alibus: Will limit exercise to the Airport-Garibaldi section, once in Piazza Garibaldi, will only make the stop near the parking area, travel along Via Torino, Via Firenze and return towards the Airport.

Alternatively, updates will be available on social profiles ANM Naples su Facebook and Twitter, or at the Anmpoint in the metro and funicular stations.

How to participate in the Neapolis Marathon 2023

To be able to take part in Neapolis Marathon 2023, È necessario be registered athletes for the current year at FIDAL. Participation is open to both Italian and foreign athletes, provided that they are in possession of a Runcard or Runcard-EPS, provided that have reached the age of twenty and are in possession of a valid medical certificate of competitive fitness for athletics.

It is also possible to participate in the event for Italian or foreign athletes who are not registered in Italy, but who are regularly registered with clubs affiliated with Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by World Athletics.
