The New Scarlatti Orchestra in free concert at San Gregorio Armeno

A suggestive free concert by the New Scarlatti Orchestra in the Church of San Gregorio Armeno on the Neapolitan eighteenth century

The Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti will perform a free concert at the splendid baroque church of San Gregorio Armeno.

The musical ensemble is not new to these initiatives and, for this occasion, will perform a "Music for the Ladies of San Gregorio“, Thus opening his Musical Autumn.
The appointment is for Saturday 18 October at 18.30 for a truly evocative evening. After more than three hundred years of their realization, new versions of Fr.sacred and profane agine of the '700 both Neapolitan and European.

These are scores that were written and intended to be played inside the church of San Gregorio Armeno and are actual autographed transcriptions designed for the recreation of the Benedictine ladies , that is, the religious and wealthy students of the aristocracy of Naples at the time who frequented the convent.

As anticipated, this is a free concert with free admission until seats are filled . In addition to the Nuova Orchestra, the following will perform: soprano Cristina Grifone and flutist Tommaso Rossi (recorder and transverse flute), both specialists in Baroque music.

The Orchestra will also play many other pieces , some of which will always have a religious theme:

• instrumental pieces by Francesco Mancini and Aniello Sant'Angelo
• passages of the religious Pergolesi of the Laetatus sum
• an unprecedented re-elaboration of the famous I'll do without Gluck's Eurydice

• the Nitteti by Pasquale Anfossi, a composer from Foggia
