The events in the dark organized in Naples and Campania on the occasion of the 2017 Earth Hour!
Il 25 March 2017 come backEarth Timeglobal mobilization against climate change launched by the WWF. Also Naples and Campania participating in the initiative: among others, the Iocisto bookshop and the Astroni Nature Reserve they will organize events in the dark, while some monuments will turn off the lights for an hour.
A symbolic gesture, therefore, that wants to unite citizens and institutions in the battle for a sustainable future. Since the first edition of Sydney in 2007, the Earth Hour, known worldwide as Earth Hour, has involved several countries. This year there are more than 400 municipalities involved in Italy. Among the monuments that in our country turn off the lights there are the Colosseum, the Verona Arena, Piazza San Marco in Venice and the Mole Antonelliana in Turin.
The struggle that the WWF has been conducting for years to sensitize people about climate change is without a break. There loss of biodiversity it is only one of its effects, with irreversible damage to animal and plant species.
Together it is still possible to do something, because the "sixth mass extinction", unlike the previous ones, is caused only by man.

Events in the dark in Naples and Campania
Candle light aperitif at the Iocisto bookshop in Naples
During the evening, Yann Arthus-Bertrand's documentary on the current state of the Earth and climate will be screened. We will continue with the reading of passages for the earth, poems and aphorisms on the environment. The aperitif is organized by GAS Friarielli and the 'E Pappeci cooperative.

Sauronotte at the WWF Oasis of the Astroni in Naples
In collaboration with the exhibition Dinosaurs in Meat and Bones, a nocturnal route is proposed to know the nature of the Astroni crater and reconstructions of extinct dinosaurs and mammals. With the help of torches and lamps, visitors will be guided to discover extinct and living animals. The event takes place by reservation and subject to availability.

Concert at Palazzo Mezzacapo di Maiori
Concert by the Orchestra of the Maiori Music Festival conducted by M ° Alexandre Belda Cerdà. The lights that illuminate the Collegiate Sanctuary of S. Maria a Mare, the most prominent monumental complex in the city, will also be switched off.

Evening at the Astronomical Observatory of Agerola
The problem of light pollution will be presented to raise awareness and stimulate the reduction of energy waste that causes damage to the environment and greatly reduces the vision of the night sky. There will be video projections, shows at the Planetarium and astronomical observations at the telescopes.

Evening at the WWF Oasis of Persano
We will start in the afternoon with a guided tour of the oasis, to continue with the tasting of typical products and tastings of local gastronomy. In the evening there will be live music performances and the lighting of the fires.
