The great exhibitions in the Pompeii excavations continue with some new installations of contemporary art!

Since June 23 2017 will be presented at the Ruins of Pompeii, the new works of the artist Angelo Casciello. The sculptures of contemporary art they will be at the wonderful Villa Imperiale and all along the fascinating Viale delle Ginestre.

The choice of the artist from Scafati, who in 2009 was named "Academician of the Pantheon" by Pope Benedict, is an important signal towards the enhancement of creative forces of the Campania region. After hosting thirty great sculptures by Igor Mitoraj and the master's works Pablo Picasso, the Pompeii excavations will provide a wonderful setting for an encounter between ancient beauties and works of modern art.

The works will accompany visitors to the Excavations that from 22 will also attend the summer festival Pompeii Theatrum Mundi within the Teatro Grande degli Scavi realized in collaboration between the Superintendence of Pompeii and the Teatro Stabile di Napoli.

Recall that in Pompeii it is also possible to visit a part of the Parade exhibition dedicated to Picasso, whose other seat is the Museum of Capodimonte.

Prices for admission to the archaeological site:

  • whole 13 euro (11 euro digging entrance + 2 euro showing on Picasso)
  • reduced 7.50 euros (5.50 euros entrance to the excavations + 2 euros supplement for exhibitions), for EU citizens aged 18 to 24 years
