New edition of Re Panettone: the event dedicated to the delicious Christmas dessert awarded several pastry chefs from Campania!

King Panettone, the national event dedicated to the delicious Christmas cake, took place again this year, awarding the best artisan panettone which are prepared by pastry chefs using only natural ingredients, avoiding additives and semi-finished products.

Previous editions also took place in Napoli, inside the halls of the elegant Grand Hotel Parker's, the historic five-star present in Naples since 1870.

King Panettone: the 2020 edition

For this new edition two it was categories in the race, Or the Traditional Panettone and the Innovative Leavened Dessert. 28 were the pastry chefs who participated in the competition from 10 different Italian regions and the winners were chosen from among these.

To be awarded the first place in the ranking for artisan Panettone he is really a pastry chef from Campania, but there were also various participants from Campania who won the two second places for the competing sections.

Ranking of the winners for the traditional Panettone section 

The traditional Panettone was prepared using only natural ingredients, that is mother yeast, flour, raisins and candied fruit citrus fruit in suspension, butter, egg yolks and sugar. Here is the ranking of the first second and third place:

  • First place: Raffaele Vignola, Caffè Vignola in Solofra AV
  • Second place and Mention: Alessandro Slama, Ischia Pane of Ischia NA
  • Third place and Mention: Emanuele Comi, Pasticceria Comi di Missaglia LC

Awarded ranking for the Alternative leavened dessert section 

The innovative leavened cake it was prepared using panettone dough with mother yeast as ingredients, while the filling, shape and coating was chosen by the pastry chef in the competition. Here is the ranking of the first, according to and third place:

  • First place: Italo Vezzoli, Incroissanteria di Carobbio degli Angeli BG with a panettone without candied fruit and with grains on top, characterized by drops of lemon cream
  • Second place and Mention: Annibale Memmolo, Memmolo pastry shop in Mirabella Eclano AV Pan Annurca, a special panettone that in the dough in addition to mother yeast, flour, butter etc. has ricotta, almonds, cinnamon and annurca apple, candied in the pastry shop
  • Third place and Mention: Massimo Ferrante, Pasticceria Ferrante di Campomorone GE with the Caribbean Black a panettone covered with a chocolate glaze, together with powdered coconut and candied pineapple with rum.
