For the open-air weekend, many events, visits and shows at the Railway Museum of Pietrarsa with admission to 2 euro!
Il National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa will finally be able to fully express its full potential. The restoration it is indeed terminated and the 31 March 2017 will be inaugurated from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. For the occasion, new rolling stock arrived at the museum, including the presidential train.
Il 31 March, 1 and 2 April there will also be a special one weekend Open Doors with discounted tickets and many initiatives for children and adults. On Sunday 2 April it will also be possible to reach the museum center by traveling on vintage carriages from Pietrarsa Express. The exhibition "The Republic, the Italians and their railways" was set up in the premises of the former Bourbon factory with archive photographs. During the Open Doors weekend the steam locomotive Gr. 880 will be active and will travel along the central avenue of the museum.
Among the novelties stands out the "La Provvida" wagon, rebuilt on the original model of 1938. Operating on the entire national network between 1955 and 1965, it was a real mobile shop of basic necessities for railwaymen.
