Telepass price increases, the cost of the subscription increases after 25 years

Unfortunately, there is no good news for motorists using the Telepass because from the next 1 July are expected increases for monthly fees.

After 25 years where the fee has always been the same, the unilateral modification of the contract arrives with increases that will cost users more than 50% of the current payment.

From July 2022, therefore, avoiding the queues at the motorway toll booths will always be easy, but certainly less convenient than it is now.

How much the rent increases

Here are the new increases:

  • 0,57 euros per month, VAT included, for the Telepass Family;
  • 0,28 euros per month, VAT included, for the Twin, including the Premium Option / Italian Roadside Assistance);
  • the basic option, which costs 12,40 euros annually, will see an increase of around 55%.

How to withdraw if you do not accept the increase

Those who do not want to pay the increased fee because the price will be too high and therefore inadequate for the service, according to their needs, will be free to withdraw from the contract by 30 June 2022. There will then be 6 months to return your Telepass to the company.

Just choose one of the following options:

  • write to Telepass Spa via email at gestionecontratto@telepass.com or at assistenza@pec.telepass.com;
  • a letter can be sent to Customer Care, P.O. Box 2310 branch 39 - 50123 Florence;
  • you can go to the Telepass stores, the Blue Points and the service centers of the motorway operators that are still functioning or to other sales or assistance points authorized by Telepass that can be consulted on the Telepass site or on the app;
  • you can also call the call center at 840.043.043.

The reasons for the rent increase

This increase occurs for the first time since 1997, the year in which the Telepass Family was launched, and according to the company Telepass Spa, it is necessary and both the fees of the Telepass Family and those of the Twin Option, if active.

The reason lies in the "progressive change in the technological, market and organizational context in which Telepass operates“, These are the words of the company. Added to this is the increase in costs and investments that the company must make to adapt its services to the changed technological scenario. Therefore it will be necessary to “introduce new provisions” to also adapt the way in which services are provided.

Finally, we must also consider the investments to guarantee, also through partnerships, a new network of physical customer assistance points, we remind you that in recent years the motorway concessionaires have closed many Blue Points and Service Centers on the networks, but there are also many Costs which serve to ensure that the assistance channels via the web are functional and effective.

Assoutenti turns to the company

This news was not well received by Assoutenti, the non-profit association for consumer protection, who decided to contact the Telepass company directly to ask for a meeting.

This will take place after Easter and there will be discussions about theopportunities for these increases, above all because this issue is delicate at a time like this where the market is affected by liberalization. It is essential to protect consumers who use Telepass by defining a different path, but shared with the company.
